and performing operations on numbers, linear equations, geometry, measurement,
data analysis and probability!
Everyday, you are expected to come to class with your iPad charged,
ISN notebook and a pencil
(preferably a mechanical pencil).
Each lesson will be from three to four days long. Each lesson has three parts: Try It, Discuss It, and Connect It. We will work in our ISN Notebook (Try It) before we begin lessons so that students get a sense of what to do. We also learn other ways to tackle a problem, receive hints, and cheats. This year we are going to attempt flipping the class where a video is watched the night before and we can get into class the next day and begin the "Discuss It." Each Unit will follow up with a test or project.
Tips for Success in M-A-T-H Class
Manage your self and time wisely. Always do Quality Work. Turn in all assignments. Have good study habits. Class Expectations 1. Bring all materials to class with you. 2. All homework and tests must be done in pencil. You are expected to show your work neatly. If work is too sloppy it will be redone in addition to that day's homework. 3. Homework done on the iPad must be completed. If you receive a failing grade you will be reassigned the assignment. 3. It is your responsibility to finish all tests. You can finish it up after school. Extra Help I am available by 7:30 in the morning (usually before) and will stay until at least 4:00 in the afternoon. I will help as much as I can. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR GRADE. Please come in, work and ask questions. Multiple Choices is also another opportunity for students to get help. It is the after school program to help students with homework. They also have a wide variety of activities for students to experience such as fishing, cooking, dancing, etc. Math
the only subject that counts. |
Homework and
Testing Procedures The actual test cannot be taken home; students and parents can come in and go over the test at the school if they wish. 50% Tests, Projects and ISN Notebook 30% Quizzes, My Path and Math Activities 20% Homework ISN Notebooks We are creating Interactive Student Notebooks (ISN) that will include concepts that will be learned. It will show alternative ways to understanding concepts other than what the textbook may show. These books will also include resources at their finger tips. *Check out the link for ISN Notebooks. |
