Fraction Monsters
We took the idea of the Gallon Man and made Fraction Monsters. Students signed up for 1/2, 1/3, or 1/9 fractions. They had to cut construction paper showing equivalent fractions. They had to label each part. Students laid projects out so they could be double checked. When they were the OK they glued them together and decorated them.
What Is Your Favorite? (Investigation 1)
We discussed how to write a survey questions and students had to write one question then survey 30 people. They kept track of their survey by creating a frequency table and tallying results. In class we created a bar graph showing the data they collected. Students were also asked to answer a survey question on Edmodo about their birth month. We took the data collected and created a histogram. Students were to take all the information we gathered and make a poster using Comic Life.
