Geometric Construction Art
Once we completed our investigation on construction we looked at Geometric Constructions created by Artists. Students were instructed to complete two different designs for class. They were required to use a compass and a protractor. They were to color their designs but leave all construction marks.
OP ART (Investigation 1)
To studied the relationship between fractions, percents and decimals we turned to the artist Ellsworth Kelly. He is an American painter who is well known for his abstractions using geometric forms. Many of his paintings are squares painted in specific patterns. We created a 10 x 10 table in Word, then students picked 6 colors with at least three squares colored. After patterns were created they made another table counting the colors and making them a fraction. The fractions were changed to decimals and percents.
